Haolonggood Dilophosaurus Dinosaur Figure
Dilophosaurus lived approximately 193 million years ago in what is now North America. It was one of the earlier large theropods and represents an important stage in predatory dinosaur evolution.
Growing up to 6 to 7 metres in length, Dilophosaurus was lightly built and agile. Its defining feature was the pair of thin, arched crests running along the top of its skull. These crests were likely used for display or species recognition rather than combat.
Haolonggood captures the athletic build of Dilophosaurus nicely. The stance feels alert rather than aggressive. It reads as a moving predator rather than a posed display piece.
Surface texturing is fine and consistent, especially along the flanks and neck, where scale transitions are noticeable in hand.
Paint Application – Teal and Earth Variant
This version blends muted earth tones through the torso with a cool teal gradient along the lower body and tail.
The crest carries warm orange-red tones that contrast beautifully against the cooler base colors. The transition from beige to green-blue feels smooth and layered, giving the figure depth under display lighting.
This variant has a slightly more dynamic color story, with the teal adding visual movement along the lower half.
Paint Application – Burgundy and Sand Variant
The second version leans warmer overall, with sandy beige transitioning into deeper burgundy and muted red tones across the torso.
The cranial crests are highlighted with warm orange accents that integrate naturally into the surrounding head coloration. The darker limb shading anchors the figure visually and enhances the lean musculature.
This version feels slightly more grounded and cohesive in tone, with a more uniform warmth across the body.
Collector POV
What makes this figure stand out is its refinement and scale balance.
Dilophosaurus occupies a unique place in a collection. It is clearly predatory, yet not oversized. The lean build and elongated tail make it ideal for collectors who want variety in theropod body types without defaulting to apex giants.
The twin crests provide instant species recognition, but the sculpt does not rely solely on that feature. It holds up from multiple angles.
If you are building a chronological lineup, this is a strong Early Jurassic anchor. If you are building a predator shelf, it adds contrast without overwhelming the composition.
It is a species with identity, and this sculpt respects that.
Pairs Well With
• Haolonggood Allosaurus for later Jurassic predator progression
• Haolonggood Ceratosaurus for cranial diversity in theropods
• Early Jurassic herbivores for time-period accuracy
• Larger Cretaceous theropods for evolutionary contrast
