Cenozoic Mammals
After the extinction of the dinosaurs, mammals became the dominant large animals on Earth during the Cenozoic era. This period saw the rise of animals such as mammoths, saber toothed cats, giant ground sloths, and many other large prehistoric mammals.
These animals lived relatively recently compared to dinosaurs, and many early humans would have encountered some of them. Fossils from this period help scientists understand the evolution of modern mammals and ecosystems.
